My name is Scott Phillips. I’m a 27-year-old high school psychology teacher from New Jersey. I’ve run 3 marathons, over 20 obstacle course races, and recently completed my first half-iron man triathlon.
Like many others, I have had close friends and colleagues who have battled with cancer. Some of my family members have lost their battle. Two years ago however, I helped a stranger by successfully donating bone marrow through the Be The Match bone marrow registry. We are no longer strangers as we have become friends over the past year.
I am riding from Portland to Portland because I want to honor those who have lost their fight with cancer. I ride for those who aren’t capable of taking such a journey. I ride for the daily challenge. I ride to meet people from all walks of life across the United States.
Those that know me know that I believe that there is good in everyone. I look for the best in everyone I meet and I think each of us is capable of amazing things. I believe that this ride will inspire others to step out of their comfort zone and become “everyday superheroes”, even to total strangers.
You can follow me on Instagram and keep up with my journey across the United States!
